The numerous benefits of breastfeeding are widely known, but sadly, the number of mums choosing to breastfeed in the UK, and North Kesteven in particular, is very low. One of the reasons given for not breastfeeding is the anxiety of having to do so in public places and being embarrassed or worried about being criticised.
So, in a bid to normalise breastfeeding in public, and to help nursing mums know that they can feed their babies wherever and whenever they want, North Kesteven District Council have been encouraging local businesses to let nursing mothers know they are very much welcome to breastfeed on their premises by displaying a ‘Breastfeeding Friendly’ window sticker. If you see one of these window stickers displayed, you can be reassured that the business is happy for you to breastfeed there.
