What is this all about?
In response to Covid-19, and to comply with new social distancing regulations, many organisations have moved their services online, with no option to speak to someone face-to-face. Whilst for many people this has not been a problem, we do recognise that there are lots of people who may not have the digital skills needed to do things online. Whilst we sadly cannot operate our Community Digital Hubs at the moment, below are some links which could help you or anyone you support to improve their digital skills.
Learn My Way
Learn My Way is a website of free online courses, built by the Good Things Foundation to help people develop their digital skills. They have a wide range of courses, from learning the basics of how to use your computer and access the internet, to internet safety, video calling and using social media to stay in touch with friends and family.
To view their range of course please go to the Learn My Way website.
Make It Click
If you are already reasonably confident with the ‘basics’ and would like to build on your digital skills even further, Make It Click, hosted by the Good Things Foundation has a wealth of courses, videos and online learning available. Whilst the content is not all owned by the Good Things Foundation, they curate the site, ensuring that everything posted is to an expected standard. It is also free to access everything listed on the site.
For more information go to the Make It Click website.
Lincs Digital are a local organisation based in Horncastle, who are currently offering a range of online courses to help people improve their digital skills. They offer support via telephone, email, or video calling. All the courses are free, but you would be required to contact Lincs Digital to discuss your needs prior to taking any of the courses.
To find out more about the courses on offer or to get in touch with them please go to the Lincs Digital website.
Scams can be difficult to recognise, so it is important to be vigilant and aware online, as you would be in real life situations. If you are worried about becoming the victim of online fraud, the Citizens Advice Bureau have put together some useful information to help you identify whether or not something may be a scam.
For more information please go to the Citizens Advuce Bureau website.
