North Kesteven District Council has again been identified as one of the best local authorities in the country for meeting the housing needs of its local area.
Building on previous recognition and acknowledgement for the excellence of its services as a landlord and for developing additional affordable housing, the Council has now been shortlisted for a UK Housing Award in the category for Strategic Local Authority of the Year.
This recognises the broader work of the Council across all aspects of housing provision, from scoping out future need and planning for that, through to its response to homelessness, its enthusiasm for boosting provision for affordable housing across its own stock and the private sector and enforcing better standards of accommodation.
In order to make the shortlist for the high-profile awards, the Council had to demonstrate its close working with partners to provide local leadership and to drive forward a committed approach to meeting housing need in the District and that the housing offer is at the heart of what the Council does and joined up with the rest of the services to the demonstrable benefit of our communities.
Council Leader, Councillor Richard Wright said: “We are committed to providing a good housing offer for all of our residents, regardless of tenure or affordability, and to have been recognised as a finalist within these awards for our leadership and partnership working is thanks to the hard work of all those involved.”
The awards take place in London on May 2.
