Four schemes in North Kesteven have been crowned best in category for building excellence across the East Midlands.
Seven projects and two construction professionals were finalists in the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control Awards, having been among those recognised locally for their efforts in building excellence as customers of North Kesteven District Council’s Building Control Unit.
From those nine shortlisted finalists, four have been named as East Midlands Local Authority Building Control Awards winners.
The news was announced online on August 27 virtually, in place of a physical awards evening. The winning schemes are as follows.
Best Large Commercial Project: St. Modwen Park (Network 46), Camp Road, Witham St Hughs.
Best Individual New Home: Orchard Toft, 10 School Lane, North Scarle.
Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development: Phase 4, Newfield Road, Sleaford, a development brought forward by the Council.
Best Public Service or Educational Building: Witham Prospect School, Old Harbour Farm, Norton Disney.
District Council Leader, Cllr Richard Wright said: “We couldn’t be more proud to see these four schemes recognised at this regional level and champion building excellence in our District in such a way.
“We know the hard work and dedication which went into these projects by the local builders, architects and teams involved as clients of our Building Control Unit, so to see them awarded these regional accolades is really something to celebrate.
“It follows our own Building Excellence Awards 2020 which identified a range of projects locally that had gone above and beyond in building excellence as customers of our Building Control Unit, including taking on board the challenge of sustainability by adopting fresh practices through their builds and management of waste onsite.
“I am of course especially proud that Newfield Road has been recognised for its excellence in this way, validating the Council’s decision to invest yet again in the social homes we strive to deliver. Providing quality council housing complying with enhanced environmental standards and build quality is the main focus rising from our housing priority.”
