On 4 September 2020 North Kesteven District Council resolved to designate the whole of Sleaford as a Neighbourhood Plan Area in accordance with the Section 61G of Town and Council Planning Act 1990 (as amended by the Localism Act 2011).
The designation of a Neighbourhood Area being one of the statutory requirements needed to be in place to enable a Neighbourhood Plan to be adopted and formally become a part of the Development Plan, and be used in the determination of planning applications by the District Council.
Designation stage
Sleaford Town Council submitted an application to undertake a Neighbourhood Plan. After a four week publication period, this application was approved by North Kesteven District Council on 4 September 2020. The consultation for the area designation received no representations.

Regulation 14
Regulation 14 finished on 9 February 2025, during which interested parties were invited to make comments on the Neighbourhood Plan. The town council are currently considering all comments and suggestions very carefully before the plan is submitted to North Kesteven District Council for further consultation and an independent examination.
