Animal and pest control

Please note that we do not offer a pest control service but we do help to ensure residents can keep their homes and gardens free from rats and mice. We can provide general advice on pest control issues but do not offer services such as wasp nest removal. If a wasps nest is on a building/school, they should have their own Pest Control service/Caretaker who will deal with it, or we contact them to arrange pest control to treat it. Likewise if a domestic property has one in their garden that is causing problems to passers-by, we can contact the occupier to deal with it.

  • Animal health and welfarehere is a wide range of legislation in the UK designed to protect the health and welfare of both domesticated and wild animals.
  • Dog collectionStray dogs are collected and, where possible, returned to their homes on the first occasion they are caught.
  • Rats and MiceInformation on how to deal with a mice or rat problem, with the option of reporting the issue to the Environmental Health Team.
  • Keeping chickens and poultryKeeping a few chickens or ducks in your back garden for free, fresh eggs is an increasingly popular hobby
  • Be nice to beesBees are not a protected species - they are vital to our biodiversity and ultimately our ability to produce food, so colonies should only be destroyed in the most extreme cases
  • Feeding the ducksIt is important to know what is healthy to feed ducks as the wrong food can have serious consequences.
  • Dealing with waspsWasps can be a nuisance to humans mainly in late summer/ autumn months when the weather gets cooler as they become more likely to sting.
  • Nuisance birdsSometimes overfeeding birds can result in them occurring in large numbers, which can be very problematic.
