Government release guidance for landlords on minimum energy efficiency requirements
The Government has released guidance on 9 October 2017 to assist landlords of domestic properties in complying with new regulations coming into force on 1 April 2018. The guidance is available on the Gov.uk website.
After this date, a landlord of a private rented property with an EPC register rating of F or G must not grant a new lease or renew an existing lease of that property until works have been carried out to improve the energy efficiency to a rating of E or above.
Properties with existing tenancies cannot continue to be rented past April 2020 until they also achieve an E rating or above. For more information see the Minimum Landlord Energy Efficiency Requirements 2018 page.
