Landlords: Is your home still rentable after April 2018?
After this date, a landlord of a private rented property with an EPC register rating of F or G must not grant a new lease or renew an existing lease of that property until works have been carried out to improve the energy efficiency to a rating of E or above.
Properties with existing tenancies cannot continue to be rented past April 2020 until they also achieve an E rating or above. For more information see the Minimum Landlord Energy Efficiency Requirements 2018 page.
Does your property need improvements or have hazards that need fixing? If you approach the Council’s Private Housing Team looking to rectify any problems and bring the property up to standard, we can offer a one year amnesty where no enforcement action will be taken or notices issued.
In situations where emergency action is warranted, the council is obligated to act. However, under this amnesty notice fees will be waived. To find out more email email@example.com or call 01529 414155.
