Housing research

A Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) is a piece of research undertaken by local planning authorities to help them develop an understanding of their local housing market area. It looks at wider issues and considers housing need and demand across all housing tenures, now and into the future.

North Kesteven falls within the Central Lincolnshire Housing Market area which also includes Lincoln and West Lindsey. The current SHMA was completed in 2015 and covers the Central Lincolnshire authorities. The SHMA report is available to download from the Central Lincolnshire Local Plan website.

Local Authorities have a legislative responsibility to investigate the accommodation needs of their Gypsy and Traveller communities. This report details the findings from the latest Central Lincolnshire Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA).

The report was commissioned by North Kesteven District Council, City of Lincoln Council and West Lindsey District Council (collectively known as Central Lincolnshire) with support from Lincolnshire County Council and the Central Lincolnshire Joint Planning Unit (JPU).

The aim of the study is to quantify the accommodation and housing related support needs of Gypsies and Travellers in Central Lincolnshire for the period 2013/14-2033/34. This is in terms of residential and transit/emergency sites and bricks and mortar accommodation. The results will be used as an evidence base for policy development in housing and planning.

The final report is available to download and view.
