Notice of Election
There is a vacancy in Sleaford Town Council – Westholme Ward for which an election has been called.
The poll will take place on Thursday 4 August 2022 between 7am and 10pm.
The key election dates are explained below.
The Notice of Election publicises the election that is to be held and the timetable, including the date by which prospective candidates must submit a nomination paper. This will be available on the downloads tab from 30 June.
The Register of Electors
You can only vote if your name is on the Register of Electors for the Westholme Ward of Sleaford Town Council.
The deadline to register for the elections is midnight on Tuesday 19 July 2022. If you are already registered to vote at your current address, then there is no need to register again for this election. If you have not registered or have recently moved into the district or perhaps have moved within the area, then the easiest way is to register to vote online at the gov.uk website. If you are not sure if you are registered you can call us on 01529 414155 to check.

If you would like to vote by post, you will need to complete a postal vote application form and the Electoral Registration Officer must receive your application at North Kesteven District Council offices in Sleaford by 5pm on Wednesday 20 July 2022 if it is to be effective for this election. Alternatively, completed application forms can be scanned and returned by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by this deadline.
If you are granted a postal vote, you will NOT be able to vote in person at this election. Please email email@example.com or telephone Customer Services 01529 414155 to request a postal vote application form. Postal vote forms can also be downloaded from Apply to vote by post | Electoral Commission. Ensure you allow sufficient time to receive and return the postal vote application before the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday 20 July 2022.

Amendments or cancellations of existing proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer in Sleaford by 5pm on Wednesday 20 July 2022.
If you would like to appoint a proxy (someone to vote on your behalf), you will need to complete a proxy vote application form. New proxy applications must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer at North Kesteven District Council offices in Sleaford before 5pm on Wednesday 27 July 2022 if it is to be effective for this election. Alternatively, completed application forms can be scanned and returned by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have appointed a proxy to vote in person for you, you can still vote yourself, but ONLY if your proxy has not already voted on your behalf. Proxy vote application forms can be downloaded from Apply to vote by proxy | Electoral Commission or requested from the Council on 01529 414155.
Applications to vote by emergency proxy, where the emergency has occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 27 July 2022, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Sleaford by 5pm on Thursday 4 August 2022.
The emergency can only be on the grounds of the elector's own physical/medical incapacity or for work/service reasons.

Voting in Person
Anyone who is registered and does not currently have a postal or proxy vote arrangement set up will be sent a poll card in the next few weeks, giving details of their polling station, which will be open from 7am to 10pm on 4 August 2022.

Statement of Persons Nominated
The Returning Officer is required to publish a Statement of Persons Nominated no later than 4pm on Monday 11 July (this will be added to the downloads tab when available).
Please Note: The candidates for the election will not be known until this time. We do not have any details or information about any candidates standing for this election. It is the responsibility of candidates to provide and circulate their own election material as part of their election campaign.
Notice of Poll (includes polling stations)
If the election is contested, the Returning Officer is required to publish a Notice of Poll (which will be added automatically when the documents are available and no later than Wednesday 27 July 2022). This notice gives details of the validly nominated candidates and the polling stations used for the election.
Declaration of Results
The count for this election will take place after the close of poll and the results will be published on this page in a Declaration of Results once this is available.
