Lincolnshire County Council Election - 6th May 2021

The election

Polling stations across the North Kesteven District Council area will open at 7am and close at 10pm to elect eleven county councillors. 

Eleven County Council divisions are within North Kesteven District Council administrative area. One councillor will be elected for each electoral division and each councillor is elected to serve a four year term. The electoral divisions within the North Kesteven area are:

  • Bassingham & Welbourn
  • Eagle & Hykeham West
  • Heckington
  • Hykeham Forum
  • Metheringham Rural
  • Potterhanworth & Coleby 
  • Ruskington
  • Sleaford
  • Sleaford Rural
  • Waddington & Hykeham East 
  • Washingborough

Register to Vote

The deadline to register for the election is Midnight on Monday 19th April 2021. If you are already registered to vote, then there is no need to register for this election. If you have not registered or have recently moved into the district or perhaps have moved within the area, then the easiest way is to  register to vote online at the gov.uk website.

Postal Votes

New applications, amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Sleaford by 5:00pm Tuesday 20th April 2021.

Proxy Votes

Amendments or cancellations of existing proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Sleaford by 5:00pm Tuesday 20th April 2021.  

New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Sleaford by 5:00pm Tuesday 27th April 2021.

Applications to vote by emergency proxy, where the emergency has occurred after 5:00pm on Tuesday 27th April 2021, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer's office in Sleaford by 5:00pm Thursday 6th May 2021. 

The emergency can only be on the grounds of the elector's own physical/medical incapacity or for work/service reasons.

Becoming a Candidate

If you intend to stand as a candidate you must be at least 18 years of age and a Commonwealth citizen, citizen of Republic of Ireland or a citizen of another Member State of the European Union.  You must also either:

  1. Be registered as a local government elector within the County of Lincolnshire; or
  2. Have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises during the whole of the previous 12 months within the County; or
  3. Your principal or only place of work during the whole of the previous 12 months has been within the County; or
  4. Have resided in the County for the whole of the previous 12 months.

You must complete a nomination paper, home address form, consent to nomination and any other relevant forms contained in the nomination pack. Nominations may be submitted from 10:00am Monday 22nd March 2021 until 4:00pm Thursday 8th April 2021.
