Gas safety checks
What is a gas safety check?
Under Regulation (36)(1) of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, the council is required to carry out annual safety checks for gas appliances, installation pipework and any flue which serves any relevant gas fitting in your home.
What does North Kesteven District Council do?
Our contractors, SureServe, who are registered on the Gas Safe Register and fully qualified to inspect your gas appliances, will contact you once a year to arrange access to your property to carry out these inspections. You need to let the gas safe engineer into your home and once completed they will provide you with a copy of the certificate (Landlords Gas Safety Record, also known as LGSR).
It is not only a legal requirement but also ensures North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) can keep your heating system running efficiently and safely. Please make sure you keep to your appointment and provide access to the SureServe Contractor to carry out this annual service. It’s free and could save your life.
If you are unavailable for your gas safety check appointment, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do all we can to accommodate a more suitable date and time for you. Please be aware that if 3 appointments are missed and you do not allow SureServe engineers (NKDC’s contractors) access to your home, legal action may be triggered against you to gain access to the property to carry out this very important safety check.
