The joint policy between Lincoln and North Kesteven has been developed to promote the Councils aims to be fair and consistent but also firm in the collection of monies owing.
The policy was consulted on during September and October 2014. Following responses, the policy was updated and went through joint committee, North Kesteven Scrutiny Committee, Lincoln Policy Committee and both Executive committees. Executive were asked to consider and approve the policy to be effective from 1 January 2015. This was agreed.
City of Lincoln and North Kesteven District Council have a legal duty to all residents, and to businesses and other organisations that are active in the districts, to ensure the prompt and cost effective billing, collection and recovery of all sums due to the Councils. Delays in collection or non-recovery of debts can lead to higher administrative costs.
