The Bracebridge Heath district council by-election saw the Conservatives hold the seat with a win by party candidate David Nash.
Cllr Nash polled one-third of the 925 votes cast on a 20.54% turnout yesterday. Thursday. His 308 votes gave a margin of 22 votes over second-placed Reform UK candidate Mark Nind who polled 286.
With Cllr Nash taking the council seat formerly occupied by Peter Burley, the Council’s controlling Conservative Group continues with 24 members. There remain 10 Lincolnshire Independents, two Labour Councillors and seven who are unaligned.
He joins party colleague Lindsey Cawrey in representing the Ward on North Kesteven District Council.
County and Mayoral elections coming up
Separately, there will be further elections right across the District and County on May 1 to elect a new Mayor for Greater Lincolnshire and to choose all of the Lincolnshire County Councillors.
- To vote in those elections eligible voters should be registered – the deadline for registration is midnight on April 11
- To apply for a postal vote the deadline is 5pm on April 14
- To apply for a proxy voting arrangement the deadline is 5pm on April 23
- To vote at a polling station all voters need to have with them a form of ID from the approved list detailed at www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voterID. If you don’t have one of these – eg a passport, photo-based driving licence, veterans and HM Forces cards – the deadline to apply for a special free Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm on April 23.
