A poll card for the May election

Poll cards have started to arrive for people eligible to vote at the elections on 1 May 2025 for the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority Mayor and Lincolnshire County Councillors.

Remember to look out for yours and make a note of the polling station. It also includes details of the types of photo ID that can be used at the polling station so you can check now that you have what’s needed. Postal voters, for whom there are no Voter ID needs, will receive pink poll cards advising them of the processes that apply to them.

If you've not received a poll card by Wednesday 26 March, please get in touch by phone on 01529 414155 to check you are registered to vote.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on 11 April 2025 it can be done quickly and easy with your National Insurance number to hand at www.gov.uk/registertovote

If you have turned 18, moved house or changed your name since the last major election in July 2024, it is probable that you will need to register or re-register.

North Kesteven District Council Chief Executive and local Returning Officer for the elections, Kath Marriott, said it was essential that people had in place everything they needed, in order to vote.

“Please ensure you are registered to vote and if you wish to vote at a polling station you will need to bring voter ID with you, so do check your poll card to ensure you know your polling station location and Voter ID requirements.

“If you would rather vote by post or arrange for someone to vote on your behalf, by proxy, those arrangements must be put in place in time,” she said.”

The poll card includes a list of the accepted forms of photo ID electors can use to vote in person at a polling station. Acceptable forms of ID include a passport, driving licence, or older person’s bus pass – and new this year, the HM Forces veteran’s card (MoD Form 100) in addition to the MoD Form 90 Defence Identity Card for serving personnel.

You can still use your photo ID if it’s out of date, as long as it looks like you and the name on your ID is the same name you used to register to vote. The full list of accepted Voter ID is available on the Electoral Commission website along with more information about the requirement.

Those without the necessary ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) online at GOV.UK by post or in person. The deadline for VAC applications is 5pm on 23 April.

If you want to vote by post the deadline for a new postal vote application is 5pm on Monday 14 April. Proxy vote applications also close on this date. More information is available on the Electoral Commission website.

More information relating to these elections can be found on our elections page including lists of candidates for the 11 County Council Divisions and the Mayoral contest, available from April 3 after nominations close.

A booklet advising about the Mayoral election, the function of the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority and candidate profiles will be sent to all registered elections from mid-April. See also the Greater Lincolnshire Combined Counta Authority (GLCCA) website.
