A by-election will be held in Bracebridge Heath on Thursday, March 20 to fill a vacancy on North Kesteven District Council.

Six candidates have put their name forward for voters in the District Council’s Bracebridge Heath Ward to choose from. They are:

  • Chris Barr – Independent
  • Funmi Adeyemi – Labour Party
  • Stephen John Chapman – Liberal Democrats
  • Mark Anthony Nind – Reform UK
  • David Walter Nash – The Conservative Party Candidate
  • Christopher Paul Rattigan-Smith – The Green Party

The by-election seeks to fill a vacancy that arose following the death of one of the ward’s district councillors, Peter Burley in January. As a two-member ward, the area continues to be represented by Councillor Lindsey Cawrey.

Registered voters across the ward will be able to vote at a polling station between 7am and 10pm on March 20 or by postal or proxy vote if they have made arrangements to have one. Details are on the poll cards that have already been sent to registered electors on 13 March.

All voters at a polling station will need to show one of the required types of photo ID in order to be able to vote. This is a legal requirement which took effect at the May 2023 elections.

Electors must first be registered to vote. Anyone needing to register to vote – for example if you’ve moved house recently, turned 18 or know you’re not registered – the deadline is midnight on Tuesday, March 4. The list can be seen, in full, on our Voter ID webpage. If you don’t have an accepted photo ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate on our Voter Authority Certificate webpage. before the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday, March 12. This is a free photographic identification document specific for the purposes of voting. It will remain eligible for future elections, as long as the photograph continues to bear a likeness to you.

Voters can now apply for a new postal vote quickly and easily online on the GOV.UK website and paper forms are also available from this website or by contacting Electoral Services if required.
