Neighbourhood plan referendum 19 Jan

A Neighbourhood Plan developed by Scopwick and Kirkby Green Parish Council together with its local community is due to go to a local referendum on Thursday 19 January.

Neighbourhood Plans are an opportunity for communities to set out their own vision for the development of their area. The plans cover issues such as local planning policy, transport and rights of way, and green infrastructure.

A Neighbourhood Plan directly affects decision-making on planning matters, so residents are encouraged to have a say on their Neighbourhood Plan and vote.

  • Last date for applying to register to vote: Midnight on Tuesday 3 January 2023
  • Last date for applying for a postal vote or to amend/cancel an existing postal or proxy vote: 5pm on Wednesday 4 January 2023
  • Last date for making a new application for a proxy: 5pm on Wednesday 11 January 2023
  • Date of referendum: Thursday 19 January 2023
  • Polling day: Thursday 19 January 2023
  • Polling station: Scopwick and Kirkby Green Village Hall, 7am to 10pm on polling day.

The question to be asked in the Referendum is: "Do you want North Kesteven District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Scopwick and Kirkby Green to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

Poll cards and postal votes for the referendum have been posted, so those in the Scopwick and Kirkby Green parish area are asked to please look out for these arriving and deal with them promptly in view of bank holidays over the festive period and planned Royal Mail strikes.

If you do not receive a poll card, you can check if you are registered to vote by calling 01529 414155.

If you are not on the electoral register, you will need to go online and register to vote at gov.uk/register-to-vote by completing an online application. If you are not registered, you will not be able to vote.

Forms for both postal and proxy votes can be downloaded from www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter or requested from North Kesteven District Council. The Council can accept scanned copies of completed forms or very clear photographs.

If you need to register, please remember you can apply for this online or by phone. If you need to apply for a postal vote, you can return postal vote applications by email to elections@n-kesteven.gov.uk
