Community Infrastructure Levy

The national ability to set a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) came into force in April 2010. It allows local authorities in England and Wales to raise funds from developers undertaking new building projects in their area. The money can be used to fund a wide range of infrastructure that is needed as a result of development.

There are three separate CILs, one for each of the individual district within Central Lincolnshire, though they have been prepared in parallel and to a common evidence base.

The Central Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee does not make any decisions on any of the three CILs, though it is kept informed of them.
