Council Services:

Money’s Yard Public Conveniences

North Kesteven District Council and Sleaford Town Council have agreed a deal that will see the public conveniences in Money’s Yard, Sleaford, remain open.

In a meeting between the two authorities today (31 January 2012) Sleaford Town Council agreed to take on a 12-month licence, starting on 1 April 2012. North Kesteven District Council will keep the toilets open until that date, when the contract begins.

Under this deal, the building will still belong to North Kesteven DC. Sleaford Town Council will be responsible for the management of the toilets and fixtures and fittings of the building.

Both authorities hope they will be able to maintain the existing opening hours as currently in operation.

North Kesteven DC is making a financial contribution towards the business rates.

Both authorities will review their position towards the end of the contract.

The implication of this agreement means the public conveniences in Sleaford will now be managed by the Town Council in the same way Parish and Town Councils throughout North Kesteven are.

Councillor Mrs Marion Brighton OBE said: “We are glad to have been able to make progress on this issue, which will allay the fears of those concerned residents of Sleaford. It is so much more satisfactory when two authorities can work together in partnership for everyone’s benefit.”

Councillor Brian Watson, Leader of Sleaford Town Council, said: “We are pleased to be able to safeguard this facility, for the time being, for residents of and visitors to Sleaford. The Town Council will continue to explore alternative toilet provision.”
