Reuse or Repair
Reusing items or repairing them gives things a longer life and won't need replacing as quickly with new items. There are loads of things you can do with everyday items to give them a new lease of life and even when you have finished or don't want something anymore, someone else might want it.

How can I reuse things before recycling them?

• Make use of old margarine tubs etc for storage and yoghurt pots for seeds
• Use carrier bags as many times as possible
• Buy items in refillable containers e.g. washing liquids
• Using unwanted CDs as coasters or scaring birds from garden seedlings
• Donating unwanted magazines to a local Doctor's surgery or hospital - anywhere with a waiting room!

 
What can I do with stuff I don't want?

• Is it in good enough condition to sell on the Internet, local shop or newspaper?
• Give items to charity or local fund raising events

• Use Freecycle, Don't Dump that or Reuze who match people who have things they want to get rid (free of charge) with people who can use them. 
• Look for your nearest furniture recycling centre. 
• Give toys to your local Toy Libraries.
• Recycle your old mobile phone
• The Conservation Foundation can make use of your old, broken or unused garden tools for their 'Tools Shed' project.
• Sleaford and District Furniture Recycling Project - 01529 307 060 - Operate in a 12 mile radius of Sleaford (not in Lincoln) and will collect serviceable furniture that can be used by other households. Their unit is also open to the public, please ring for opening times.
