Boothby Graffoe to Coleby Saunter

Leave Boothby Graffoe village down Far End. At the end of this lane cross over the stile and follow the Viking Way arrows over a paddock to the ridge footpath.

Follow the waymarkers along this path crossing a number of stiles towards Coleby.

Continue along a narrow footpath into the village and onto the road opposite the Tempest Arms.
Either continue for a walk around the village or head back along Dovecote Lane.

You may return to Boothby Graffoe along the footpath beside the main road, or in good weather, along the countryside footpath alongside an old stone quarry and over a cross field path to the farmyard.
Carry on through the farmyard, over a stone wall via the steps and straight on to the village. On reaching the road turn right to the village centre.

Brisk walking is an ideal way to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. It also makes you healthier all round and gives you more energy to do the things you enjoy in life.
If you are not used to exercise it is important to take it slowly at first and build up your fitness gradually. Aim to walk for at least 20 minutes two or three times a week.
Check your body - make sure that your heart is beating faster than usual, but not racing, your breathing is deeper and more rapid than usual, but not uncontrolled. If you can talk to someone easily while walking, you are exercising at the right level.
If you have any of these symptoms while walking: pain, unusual fatigue, dizziness, feel sick or unwell - STOP! If the symptoms are persistent, or come back later, or if you are worried about them, see your doctor.
Be kind to your skin - the warmth of the sun can make us feel happy, healthy and relaxed. Enjoy these good feelings without the ill effects of over-exposure. Avoid the midday sun, use sunscreens, cover up with loose clothing and a wide brimmed hat.
Footwear - you don't need any special equipment for walking, just a good pair of strong and comfortable shoes, which support your heels and arches.
Safety - if walking in the dark, make sure you can be seen. Try to find someone to accompany you. If walking alone try to let someone know where you are going and what time you expect to return. Walkers using this leaflet do so at their own risk.
