Private tenants (people who live in privately rented accommodation and pay rent to a private landlord, including Housing Association properties and tenants in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's)) have a right to expect a decent standard of accommodation and landlords are legally obliged to meet certain standards.

The Housing Renewal Team at North Kesteven District Council will offer advice, carry out inspections of suspect properties and, if necessary, enforce housing legislation against a landlord. If you are concerned about the condition of your home (e.g. dangerous wiring, disrepair, condensation, mould growth etc) or amenities provided (e.g washing/ WC facilities, suitability of the property in terms of crowding etc), contact the Housing Renewal Team for further advice.
