Thank you for recycling over 53% of your rubbish last year. North Kesteven continues to be one of the top recycling districts in the country, to keep this up and reward your hard work we need to make sure there is no contamination in the bins and the lorry loads being taken away for recycling.
There are a number of items being put in both the green lidded wheelie bins and brown wheelie bins that cannot be recycled or composted. If there is contamination in just one bin it can stop the whole load being able to be recycled.
We ask you to refresh yourself of what can and can't go into each bin by looking on your magnetic collection calendar delivered to your home. There are also links under the Related pages section below to show you what can go in each of your three wheeled bins.
Please remember if you are not sure if something can be recycled then "if in doubt leave it out".
Before putting items in your green lidded dry recyclables bin we ask you to quickly wash and squash your items. This helps to keep your bin from starting to smell well as well as squashing your recyclables will make more space.
To find out what happens to the contents of your wheeled bins after they are collected, please use the link under the Related pages section further down this page.
Below are some examples of items that people should NOT have put in their recycling bin:
