Are you over 60 or are you under that age, but have a disability or debilitating illness?
If so, did you know you could find real benefits from the support of a sheltered housing environment. Alternatively a bungalow with a Lifeline alarm linked to a control centre might be just right for you.
The District Council has attractive bungalows in rural settings throughout North Kesteven - ideal for those who want a quiet life and a degree of help if it is needed.
You can even be considered if you own your own home.
At the moment, the Council uses a points system designed to consider the needs of individuals that allows us to prioritise according to need.
Some of the things that can be considered include:
- Medical need for ground floor accommodation;
- Financial difficulties in maintaining your own home; or
- Wanting to move closer to family or people who can provide you with more support.
All of the above are typical reasons why older people want to be rehoused.
Most of our properties come with car parking and manageable gardens. Our sheltered schemes offer a reduced television licence and on site communal facilities. Unfortunately, we can't always guarantee a corner shop just down the street.
For those needing a little extra support, we also have Support Co-ordinators. Residents also have access to a specialist 24-hour response service through intercom alarm equipment.
For Housing Advice for Older People in Lincolnshire there is a website at www.housingforoplincs.co.uk to help you consider more options so you can make a decision about your home.
