Our money advice service is free and confidential for any North Kesteven District Council resident.
Our team of Welfare Advisors can give advice and assistance if your debts and living costs are becoming difficult to manage. They can visit you at home or see you in our offices by arrangement with you.
Your adviser will carry out the following tasks
- discuss with you a client agreement and disclosure authorisations and if you are happy to proceed will ask you to sign the agreement
- ask you to provide full and accurate details of your financial circumstances
- review your circumstances with you and provide advice and information that may help you manage your financial affairs
- advise you of ways you could increase your income
- advise you of ways you could reduce your expenditure
- contact people and organisations that you owe money to and negotiate rates of repayment where you authorise them to do so
- draw up a financial statement and budget where appropriate
- maintain contact with you on a regular basis while it is considered that money advice is of benefit to you.
You will need to provide evidence of your income, expenditure, debts and other investments so that a full and accurate picture of your financial circumstances is known and discussions with you and other organisations and your creditors can be completed.
We will respect your confidentiality and treat you fairly, sensitively and respectfully at all times. Talking about your financial situation with someone else can be frightening and embarrassing. We understand that.
