What is a mutual exchange?
A mutual exchange is another name for a home swap. Most Council tenants have the right to exchange their home with another tenant of a housing association or council. You have to get permission from us and from the other tenant's landlord, before you move, but we will not refuse your request unless we have a good reason. If you want to move home, it may be quicker to arrange an exchange, rather than wait for transfer.
The Council is currently in the process of phasing out the existing mutual exchange scheme and replacing it with a new service provided by HomeSwapper. The HomeSwapper service will hold details of mutual exchanges within North Kesteven as well as details of those wishing to move here from outside the district.
North Kesteven District Council have funded this service to enable tenants to register FREE of charge. Registration can be carried out via the internet (free access from our council offices are available). Once you have registered, you will be able to pop on line and view matches as well as HomeSwapper emailing you at regular intervals with details of suitable exchange partners. If you do not have access to the internet HomeSwapper will send you details of suitable exchange partners via your mobile phone every two weeks.
Simply register online at www.Homeswapper.co.uk
