Council Services:

Council Tax Bands

How Council Tax is worked out

All properties were valued and put into a ‘valuation band’ - in England these bands are based on their value on 1 April 1991, not their current value. The valuation band determines how much Council Tax you pay.

The table below shows the different bands.

If you have any questions about how your property is assessed, contact the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) on 0845 602 1507 (England) or 0845 600 1748 (Wales), or get in touch with your local VOA office.

  • Band A Up to £40,000
  • Band B £40,001 to £52,000
  • Band C £52,001 to £68,000
  • Band D £68,001 to £88,000
  • Band E £88,001 to £120,000
  • Band F £120,001 to £160,000
  • Band G £160,001 to £320,000
  • Band H Over £320,000

You can check the band of any property on the Valuation Office Website and you can check the charge for each band against locations within North Kesteven by going to the Council Tax Charges page, available below.
