Extreme NK is a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) funded project running since August 2006. The funding originally came from the North Kesteven LSP, with additional support from Lincolnshire Central Schools Sports Partnership, NKDC and Children's Links. This was further strengthened in November 2006 through a successful funding bid to sport relief.
Extreme NK facilitates opportunities for young people aged 9 - 19 to experience more extreme (adventurous) activity. The young people Extreme NK target are categorised into three target areas:
- Those on the anti-social behaviour schedule: Young people at the risk of committing crime or those who have committed crime and have been issued with a verbal warning or a warning letter from the anti social behaviour team.
- Disadvantaged young people - this could be due to rural isolation, coming from a low income family or a single parent family.
- All others wishing to participate in extreme sports within the North Kesteven District.
Benefits to the District:
- Will contribute the reduction in the number of youths participating in anti-social behaviour by providing diversionary activities and educating in the effects of ASB.
- Engage disadvantaged youths in physical activity.
- Will contribute to the reduction of inequalities within the district by providing transport links to reduce rural isolation.
- Improved health of participants by increased participation in sport and active recreation.
- Create pathways and exit routes into sport specific clubs.
