Information about the district

North Kesteven is one of seven districts in Lincolnshire and covers an area of 356 square miles, the vast majority of which is classified as green space. The district is characterised by its many flourishing communities and large areas of arable farmland. The market town of Sleaford is the hub of the district and is currently embarking on another major regeneration project.

According to national figures, the North Kesteven Community Safety Partnership area has one of the 10 lowest recorded crime levels in the country.

Residents are very highly qualified when compared to other districts in England. 37% of the residents hold qualifications at least at a degree level and 53% have qualifications at A-level and above. In 2020/21, average Attainment 8 score among 15–16-year-olds students in North Kesteven was 50.7 – better than the regional figure and similar to the national average. In addition, the number of apprenticeships achieved during 2020/21 academic year was 430 as compared to 390 in the previous academic year.

In the past year, there has been a 13% increase for the average house price, yet North Kesteven still has above average affordability (Land Registry, 2022).

The Department of Health annual profiles show that the health of people is generally better than the average for England.

Although we have few areas of outstanding natural beauty or other environmentally sensitive designations, the rural tranquillity and good air quality means that the district has a good natural environment to live in.
