Composting your garden and kitchen waste provides a free supply of nutritious soil conditioner to help your garden bloom next year, encouraging better growth in flowers, fruit and vegetables.
It also helps to reduce carbon emissions, and cuts down the amount of waste sent to landfill.
All you need for good quality compost is mixture of ingredients. Ideally it should be a 50/50 mix of green garden waste, vegetable peelings, old flowers, grass cuttings, garden prunings, coffee grounds, tissues and paper napkins, shredded cardboard and even vacuum cleaner dust.
Once you get used to composting you’ll be surprised how easy it is to do and you’ll certainly need the second bin.
