Listen to this site being read out aloud
Dixerit converts the text of a web page to speech without the need for any special software, plug-ins or programme downloads. To engage the Dixerit function you need only click the link within the Access Tools box.
To use Dixerit click on the ’Listen to Site’ link which appears in the top right corner on every page. The Dixerit banner will load over the top of the current page. The banner contains a number of Icons. To start Dixerit reading the page simply click on one of the three left hand Icons. These are;
- Text,… which will read the text on the page.
- Links,… which will read the links on the page.
- Text and Links,…which will read both the text and links on the page.
Then simply highlight a piece of text, click TEXT on the top bar, and that piece of text will be read out to you.
You can set the speed of the reading using the drop down box, marked SPEED in the header
When you have finished press stop and when you wish to go back to the site without the audio enabled press exit.
Dixerit works on any browser with connection speeds of 33.6k upwards. When the ’text’ or ’text & links’ button is first pressed, you have to wait for the audio to load. This may take up to 30 seconds.
